Dil Dhadakne Do

Dil Dhadakne Do

Dil Dhadakne Do is a 2015 film directed by Zoya Akhtar, starring Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Rahul Bose and Aamir Khan (voice over). The film is melodramatic yet comical. You will feel relaxed after watching the first few minutes.

The film starts with the voice over of a character who turns out to be a dog. He introduces us to his family- the Mehras. The Mehras are a typical indian family. They are a part of the upper class and are quite affluent. They consist of Kamal Mehra, his wife Neelam Mehra, their son Kabir Mehra and married daughter Ayesha. Kamal and Neelam are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary by inviting their friends to a two-week cruise. This two-week cruise helped this family to figure out a lot of things. This film revolves around human nature and how humans manage to create so many problems despite their power of speech. This movie moves forward, making the audience laugh a little, yet giving life lessons along the way.

The script of the film was fantastic and so was the acting of all the characters. The direction was not extraordinary but it was not bad either. It was somewhere in the middle.

I really find the music of the film was out of the ordinary. I still love to listen to the album of the film even though it is about five years old. My personal favourite is the title track Dil Dhadakne Do.

I believe that this film depicts the typical Indian family. All the discontentment, the fighting is very common in an Indian family. But deep down all of the family members love each other with all of their hearts and put nothing in front of their families.

I would recommend all of my readers( especially Indian ones) to watch this movie. This movie is definitely not a one-time watch. One can watch it several times.

P.S. I have watched it thrice.
