Turtles All the Way Down: Book Review

Hey Guys! I spent the last two days rereading an unreasonable favourite of mine- Turtles All the Way Down. I have a hardcover and I love reading hardcovers so I decided to reread this one. This incidentally is also the only John Green book I actually like a lot.

Blurb:
Aza Holmes is a sixteen-year-old who has a very courageous best friend. It all begins when her best friend, Daisy decided to track down a fugitive billionaire for a reward- worth a hundred thousand dollars.
As they try to track him down, an old friend crosses paths and it turns out to be an unexpected reunion. Meanwhile, Aza is struggling with her own ever-tightening thought spirals…..

I love this book to no end. There is no reason for that… I guess I just relate to Aza a bit. I get thought spirals and while they are not so intense I understand what she went through. Moreover, it wasn’t your typical YA novel and I liked that as well.

I loved the character of Davis. He looks like a guy who once was a close friend of mine and that maybe the reason why I am biased towards him. He is also really sweet. (I do not have a crush on him).

You might find Aza annoying after a point and that would be totally reasonable but I do not find her annoying. I understand her issues totally.

Daisy and her infatuation with Star Wars was also very well-written. Mychal and Aza’s mom were also portrayed well.

While I was reading this book, I came across this very wonderful quote:

Anybody can look at you. It’s quite rare to find someone who sees the same world you see.

-John Green in Turtles All the Way Down

While reading this book I also realised that the reason John Green is such an acclaimed author is that he writes very well. His plots aren’t that strong but his writing is. It keeps you engrossed with the book all day long.

I really want this book to be made into a film. Do you?

I would recommend this book to all overthinkers and YA lovers. Do read it if you haven’t already!

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Have you read this book? Is it on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!

P.S.-1 What do you think of the new featured image that I have created? I am thinking of changing my featured images a bit and this was the first one that I changed.

P.S.- 2 Check this link out. It is an article on sexual harassment authored by me and I feel that everyone should be aware about it. So please try and read it.

  3. This was my favorite John Green book too! I really liked Aza as a character. I agree about Green’s prose being stronger than the actual plot sometimes. All those metaphors and pretty quotes kept me reading to the end. 🙂
