Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass #5)

Warning: May contain spoilers to the previous books

Hey Guys! Here I am sitting and writing this post around 30 minutes past midnight. I am a little in shock and a little disappointed. So excuse me if the post is not of usual quality.

Let’s get on with the review!

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don’t.
With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.
In this breathtaking fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, Aelin will have to choose what—and who—to sacrifice if she’s to keep the world of Erilea from breaking apart.

I found Empire of Storms to be the most disappointing book of the series by far. It was not a bad book- it just lacked the thrill and the mind boggling twists. This might be due to the fact that this book just acted as a bridge.

The characters were mind blowing as usual. Aelin outperformed herself yet again and Maeve- If she does not end up dead, I will personally kill her. Rowan still hasn’t grown on me but people keep on telling me that he will, so I will wait and watch.

The plot was not very well strung. I loved the beginning and the ending was fine as well- but I could find the my mind meandering through the middle a bit.

And the ending… I am hurt. Literally hurt. I carried myself through the last 75 pages or so (Yes, it is the end, the book is 689 pages long) with a heavy heart.

I am quite eager to sleep (it has been a long day) and also eager to start Tower of Dawn which hopefully will be better. Hence, I will take your leave here.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5

Have you read the book? Did you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments!!

P.S.- If you drop an email to me, please do let me know in the comments if possible as it may be possible that I miss the email. This happened once and I do not want it to happen again as I love hearing from you. I hate it when I don’t hear back from the bloggers I have emailed and I can imagine that you feel the same way. So just please let me know in the comments.

  1. ToD isn’t what you’re gonna expect!!! Unpopular opinion: I actually enjoyed ToD the most. Most people can’t stand it.
(And if you think EoS isn’t well strung together, wait till KoA. xD! I’m so mean.)
Good lord, please sleep. It’s past midnight!!

  2. This might be my most hated book in the series (either that or Kingdom of Ash), so while I’m very sorry that it disappointed you, I’m also kind of glad that I’m not alone 😂😂 I did actually think Tower of Dawn was way better, though, so I hope it manages to cheer you up after this disappointment! 🤗
