So, yes, just a day after finishing A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, I am done with my sixth Read-a-thon Read- Good Girl, Bad Blood. It is the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. The prompt for which I read this book was You’re Not Sorry: Read the sequel to a book that destroyed you. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder did destroy me, but in a good way. Read the posts about it here and here.
Blurb (from Goodreads):
Pip Fitz-Amobi is not a detective anymore.
With the help of Ravi Singh, she released a true-crime podcast about the murder case they solved together last year. The podcast has gone viral, yet Pip insists her investigating days are behind her.
But she will have to break that promise when someone she knows goes missing. Jamie Reynolds has disappeared but the police won’t do anything about it. And if they won’t look for Jamie then Pip will, uncovering more of her town’s dark secrets along the way… and this time EVERYONE is listening.
But will she find him before it’s too late?
This too was another brilliant book by Holly Jackson. While it was quite gripping, it wasn’t as good as book 1.
We were introduced to a few new characters in this book like Jamie (the victim) who is Connor’s brother, Charlie and Flora Green, Pip’s new neighbours. They didn’t play a very big role- I mean Jamie kinda did, but also didn’t. The same applies for Charlie and Flora. The old characters remained the same as before- awesome! Stanley too grew on me. Whereas Max🤮🤮- that part was just blatantly bad.
And the twist, whoa! I can say, I saw a bit of it coming, but like in Book 1, I didn’t see the other part coming. So, well, I can say, that I am a bit of a detective myself :-p.
So, if you loved A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, you will moderately like this one. It is brilliant but not as brilliant as the first one.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5
