The Kissing Booth Book Review | Read-a-thon Read #7

Hey Guys! So, another Read-a-thon read’s done- The Kissing Booth. The prompt for which I read this book is Wildest Dreams: Read a book that inspired a movie. Read the related posts here and here.

The Kissing Booth is a Wattpad novel written by Beth Reekles. I literally cannot believe that she was just 17 years old when she wrote the novel. I mean it isn’t like the novel is a masterpiece or something, but it is pretty cool for a teenager.

Blurb (from Goodreads):
Meet Rochelle Evans: pretty, popular–and never been kissed. Meet Noah Flynn: badass, volatile–and a total player. And also Elle’s best friend’s older brother…
When Elle decides to run a kissing booth for the school’s Spring Carnival, she locks lips with Noah and her life is turned upside down. Her head says to keep away, but her heart wants to draw closer–this romance seems far from fairy tale and headed for heartbreak.
But will Elle get her happily ever after?

Well, for a debut novel it was pretty good. The characters were cool, we could feel what Elle was going through and well Noah was… like all other Noahs I know, lovely. The book was a bit cheesy, but that is the way I like it.

But as a normal novel (Not keeping the debut thing in mind), it was meh. To be honest, I picked up the book because I enjoyed the movie. However, the books were a lot more different than the movie and this was a rare case where I actually enjoyed the movie more than the book. To be honest, there really wasn’t a big story in the book whereas in the movie, there was. The drama happened because Elle created it- Lee at no point said he was against their relationship, at least in the books.

So, I will give the book three stars for the words but take two off for the extremely weak plotline. If you wanna go ahead and read the book, fine by me. If you don’t, it is still fine by me.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Have you read the book? Have you watched the movie? Share your views in the comments!

P.S.- Is it like a thing with Noahs? Like why are all of them so cute and nice- whether it be Flynn or Noah Centineo or the Noah from Girl Online? Like I am serious, how?

  1. The first time I read this book was actually the Wattpad edition (when it first came out), but I didn’t like it that much. Then when the movie was announced, I read the published version. Even though it isn’t the most amazing book, the author has definitely grown a lot. But I agree with you, it’s good, but meh 😕
