Blogger Interview With Maeve!

Hey Everyone! As you may or may not know, in late December, I announced that I will be doing a series of blogger interviews and the fourth one’s here!

Today I will be interviewing Maeve who runs two blogs- Books by Maeve and A Society to Stop Climate Change. First off, do give them a follow! Second off, let’s begin

Me: Maeve, tell me something about yourself.

Maeve: Hi! I’m Maeve, a queer blogger who started blogging August of last year. I like theatre, good food, sleeping in late, climbing trees, and *attempting* to juggle!’

Me: Ooh, that sounds cool. So, why did you start blogging?

Maeve: Honestly, COVID and boredom really started it all. I started a blog with a couple of friends, and kind of became hooked! I loved doing the design aspect of it, so when that old blog fizzled out, I started my own. And I’ve always loved books and writing, so it was kind of a no-brainer! My second blog came to be because a couple friends started this club like thing to help prevent climate change, and I thought it would be awesome if I created a website!

Me: Ooh, that sounds good! So, what motivates you to continue blogging?

Maeve: Reading great content from other blogs! It really inspires me to keep going. Also the feeling after you publish a post, so satisfying!

Me: That’s true. What do you blog about? And why?

Maeve:  I blog about reading and writing because they’re two things that I really love. I’m the kind of person who really needs to express myself, and writing is the way I do so! My goal is to be either a YA author or screenwriter. I love reading because why be bored when you can live hundreds of other lives? That sounds kind of creepy, but you get the gist of it. As for my second blog, climate change is definitely a very pressing issue, so it makes me feel like I’m doing something, well, good I guess? Does that make sense?

Me: It perfectly does! Well, I am not really a person who expresses their feelings a lot, but I do feel the need to express my feelings about books. And I would love to be a YA author some day too! And climate change is definitely a big issues and it is something that will affect our generation so kudos to you for running a blog with that theme. What is your least favourite thing about blogging?

Maeve: My least favorite thing about blogging has to be finding time to blog! I feel like if I don’t post for a while I go into a slump where I can’t seem to find ideas. *Sigh*

Me: Ah, I totally get that, because I think I am going through that phase. I can’t think of a single discussion post topic☹☹. Do you read? Which books are your absolute favourites?

Maeve: I read as much as I possibly can. I am so bad at picking favorites (I was that kid who never had a favourite color because I didn’t want to hurt any of their feelings) but you absolutely can’t go wrong with a book by Elizabeth Acedevo or Angie Thomas. Some new favorites that have gone on my long list are Clap When You Land, Red White And Royal Blue. and A Good Girls Guide To Murder. They definitely lived up to the hype.

Me: I love A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder! I haven’t read the other two, but they are definitely on my TBR! So, any favourite genres?

Maeve: Again, I think I have a serious problem with picking favorites, but high-fantasy, contemporary, and queer romances all make me happy. I think they’re just the ones that make me want to read more! I generally read only YA and MG.

Me: Well, YA is one of my favourite genres too! So, do you listen to music? Any favourite artists?

Maeve: Yes! Music has gotten me through quarantine. I still go through phases, but I would say Janelle Monae and Lizzo will always remain some of my favorites. Recently I’ve been hooked on songs from the Hamilton musical as well.

Me: I need to watch Hamilton!! Everyone seems to be talking about it! So, any strengths that you want to share with us?

Maeve: Oooh this is hard. I think since I’m such an emotional person, I think I’m pretty empathetic. Hopefully I’m funny but that depends on the day. And I guess I love trying new things!

Me: Oh! That sounds nice. Any pet peeves?

Maeve: I think my little brother pretty much covers this (hehe), but I the things that really tick me off when people say “no offense” after they say something rude, when things don’t save, and non-apologetic apologies.

Me: Well, I could say the same for my elder sister😛😛. Next question on my list is very important- *clears throat* Dogs or Cats?

Maeve: I have both a dog and a cat, shhh! Don’t tell them. I think I’m more of a cat person, but not excessively, I still love puppies. But kittens are just meowling furballs that will sit in your lap when you read. And scratch you. But still.

Me: Well, as I have said countless times, I am a dog person. I don’t know cats just give that ‘I don’t give a damn vibe’ and that makes me feel that they don’t really like pets, I guess? I get if that makes no sense. So, what are your hobbies?

Maeve: Reading, writing, piano, and circus! Before this crazy global pandemic I took a circus class and got really into it. I’m currently reading I’m Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, writing numerous unfinished stories, and learning Minuet in B Major on the piano.

Me: Oh, circus sounds interesting!!! And the last question is…. feedback for my blog?

Maeve:  I really love the fact that you have a spot to feature new bloggers and blogs you follow. I also like the fact that you post regularly! How!? I need to learn the ways.

Me: Oh, I just usually have the post’s points in my mind and I just have to get them on paper- This is very easy as I can type quite fast on a laptop, so 🙂 Maeve, it was an absolute pleasure having you here on the blog! Any parting words?

Maeve: I just want to say, thanks for having me and this was so much fun!!

That’s all for today folks!!!

  1. Hahaha, I’ll have to agree with Maeve here and say that younger siblings are definitely more annoying than older ones 😁 Also, circus is such a cool hobby! I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who has mentioned being into that…

Also, yes, Riddhi: You need to watch Hamilton!

Aah thanks so much for having me Riddhi! I really enjoyed this. If you didn’t know, she’s doing a series of blogger interviews and I was lucky enough to be one of them. She asked some really great questions (including the all important dogs or cats) and so I hope you get to know a bit more about myself!
Also I’m feeling kinda bleh with post ideas… anyone got ideas?
