Blogger Interview with April!

Hey everyone! We are now into the second last week of blogger interviews! Today I will be interviewing April @Booked Till Midnight. She has a really nice blog, with awesome content, so do give it a follow!

Let’s get started with the interview!

Me: Tell me something about yourself.

April: Oy! I’m April and my favorite type of donut is the type with chocolate frosting. Preferably with sprinkles, because sprinkles make everything better.

Me: Oh, I like the same kind of donuts too! So, why did you start blogging?

April: My new year’s resolution for 2020 was to start reviewing the books I read. I had been writing reviews for a couple months when I accidently stumbled into bookstagram. Little did I know there was a whole book community out there. After multiple evenings spent scouring the black hole that is bookstagram, and then even more sleep deprived nights binge reading blog posts, I figured hey, I could do that. So I went ahead and created a blog. Did I have any idea what I was doing? Ha! No. No, I did not. But I’m slowly figuring things out and loving every moment.

Me: Ohh, I see. And don’t worry, I didn’t have a clue when I started my blog either! What motivates you to continue blogging?

April: My love of reading and the community!! (frame that and put it on a Hallmark card)

There are so many fabulous people within the community. I’ve never really had friends to talk books with, but blogging gives me the opportunity to fangirl about books with others who also love it.

Me: I agree, completely! Why do you blog about books?

April: I blog about books because I like books. Oh, should I elaborate?

I love reading so so so much. Being able to share that love for books with other like minded people has truly been amazing. Y’all understand what it’s like to laugh, cry, and fangirl over books. Book blogging has very much been an outlet to share all things bookish.

Me: That is so true! What is your least favorite thing about having a blog?

April: Perfectionism is my downfall. I will edit, waffle, reword, and edit even more, until my fingers fall off. And then I let everything I write sit in my drafts while I doubt myself. What if this doesn’t make sense? What if the comma is in the wrong place? Is my sarcasm obvious enough?? So I guess my least favorite part of blogging is the pressure I put on myself to do everything perfectly.

There are times when I need to let things go, because at the end of the day it doesn’t have to be perfect as long as I’m proud of it. I need to unlock and unleash my inner chill and remember that I blog for fun.

Me: Ah, while I cannot really relate, but I do get that. Do you read? What are your favorite books?

April: Do I read? One could say that I dabble in reading. It’s a form of escapism that occupies 15 hours of my time each week. It’s a hobby. That I enjoy. A lot.

Picking a favorite eh? *bookworm panic* Ahhh I guess if I had to chose, some of my favorites include A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, You Should See Me in A Crown by Leah Johnson, and Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson.

Me: Oh, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is awesome!!! I love it too! What is your favorite genre? Why?

April: Mystery? I crave the suspense and love to try to guess what will happen next. Ooh, or contemporary. They never fail to warm my heart (or tear it into a million pieces, chew it up, and then spit it out in a mangled mess). Or wait— maybe fantasy??? Dragons, pirates, hidden knives galore, I never fail to be dazzled by the intriguing worlds. Annnnd that is a nonanswer if I ever heard one. Moral of the story: I can not chose because I’m ~indecisive~

Me: Haha, don’t worry, I can’t choose a favourite genre either! What are your greatest strengths??

April: Not to stroke my own ego, but I’ve compiled a list.

1. Making an authoritative click when I walk in high heels
2. Pouring my soul into everything I do
3. Organization (hello, color coded folders!)
4. List creating (exhibit a, this charming listicle)

Me: You remind me of Amy Santiago from Brooklyn Nine Nine and a bit of Monica from Friends. Not in a bad way, though! I wish I was more organised like them and you! What are your other hobbies?

April: Did I mention lists are my forte? May I present to you April’s Other Hobbies: A List.
1. Baking, or more specifically eating the baked goods I make.
2. Speeching. I do rather like talking.
3. Listening to music (and belting out musical lyrics like a deranged crow)

Me: I love baking and belting out musical lyrics like a deranged crow too!! It is really fun! So, lastly, some feedback for my blog?

April: I absolutely love your blogging voice. You always are so authentic, and your posts never fail to make me smile. Your blog is such a welcoming place and you always get so many people involved with tags and such.

Me: Thank you so much for that praise April, it means a lot!

That’s all for this interview!! Thank you so much April for joining me!

  1. Gosh, I relate so much to the perfectionism thing! And commas rules are important, so I think it’s more than fair to check comma placements about fifty million times 😇🤣 And eating is a great hobby – although I usually let my siblings do the baking part 😁
