Discussion Post | Feelings you experience when you enter college

Hey everyone! Welcome or welcome back to my blog!

So, it’s officially been a month since college started, and boy, has it been a rollercoaster ride. I have felt a variety of emotions, and it’s just been…. a bit too much, if I’m being honest.

Without further ado, let’s get into it!

  1. Happiness:
Look, I am not going to lie, college has made me happier in general. While I have my bad days, going out and socializing with 3-4 people daily has been better for my mental health. To some extent. And I have also been doing moderately well in my classes, and come on, who doesn’t need academic validation.
  2. Excited:
Okay, this is different from happiness, because I feel excited, especially for some classes (wow I am such a nerd), but see, the classes have really amazing discussions, and it’s fun to listen to the point of views of so many different people. There’s also events and stuff (side note, my team came first in this food club event, despite being freshers, hehe), and those events and stuff make me excited.
  3. Anxious:
Um, things are gonna go downhill from here. Just a warning.
So, anxiety. Terrible feeling. But it’s like persistent, and it shows up all the time. Especially when I am being exceptionally social. Like see the thing is, everybody has lunch at the same time, right? So, often times, on a table meant for six people, 8-10 people would be there, half of which are bare acquaintances. And I would often be sitting at a place from where I couldn’t escape, resulting in me being anxious and feeling claustrophobic the entire day. hehe.|
  4. Sadness:
I don’t know why, but I have been getting these random waves of sadness. Like I’ll literally just be thinking about something and I’ll be like, huh, I am sad.
  5. Sleep-deprived:
On most days, I am super tired so I end up sleeping as soon as my head touches the pillow. But, on the days I am not that tired, I end up overthinking or doing random stuff, and I end up sleeping for less than 7 hours. Which leads me to buying coffee the next day which gives way to more anxiety and the cycle continues.
  6. Exhausted:
I feel so exhausted because honestly, college is too much. I miss school in this regard, because school had less people, less drama and also less thinking in terms of outfits and stuff. Can’t believe I am saying this, but I actually miss uniforms.
  7. Counter-productive:
I feel like I am really not productive these days. Like I am barely reading, barely blogging, and literally doing nothing except college stuff.

And well, that’s all I have for you today! Hope you enjoyed reading this post! Let me know if you relate in the comments!

  1. I always wanted to go to college but if it makes me unproductive then i don’t 😭.
Also college sounds a whole new experience. And gee, even i feel excited for some classes sometimes 🤣.
And I’m taking pcm so that says a lot 🙂.
Also i hope the sad stuff lessens.
    Great post!

  2. I hope the happiness and excitement soon force out all of the anxiety, sadness, and exhausting, counterproductive sleep deprivation! 💙 Although I guess it wouldn’t really be college without the lack of sleep 😂

It’s really interesting what you said about outfits, though! I guess since we don’t have school uniforms here, everyone has already gotten the beauty drama out of their system before going to university (if you exclude the super snobby law students, who are a different species altogether 😜). Nobody cared at all what you looked like and it was quite common to arrive at university looking like you’d just rolled out of bed and not even combed your hair 😂 (Which, to be fair, was probab exactly what happened 😁)

    1. Thank you Naemi!

Ahhh, that’s nice, I guess, but people here apply eyeliner and everything- and I genuinely am not judging them or anything, but as a person, I hate picking out clothes, lol, so uniforms over outfits anyday!

  3. I feel all of these emotions at college like everyday. I’ve made some really good friends and it’s super fun to hang out with them (something I barely did with my school friends) so it’s quite exciting too. We also had our freshers party recently and got to spend some fun time with our seniors too, so you know I didn’t like them much at first but it’s not like that anymore.
But yeah there are cons too. The work load is just too much and it’s really frustrating how I have no energy left after coming home from college to do blogging and stuff.

    1. Yeah, I agree! Like I definitely hang out with my college friends more than I did with my school friends.
Ah, I am glad you are warming up to your seniors!
      Yeah, I agree!
I hope November is less stressful for you!
