My Top 3 Tracks from Midnights! (The Taylor Swift album, duh)

Hey everyone! Welcome or welcome back to my blog!

Okay, okay, I am sorry for disappearing for a week- not replying to your comments, no posting, not commenting on your post, but I have a reasonable explanation. First off, we had a group project for the entirety of the third week of October, and while I had a great time making the project, it was stressful. I had a really bad week, mentally too, so, um yeah. And then there was Diwali, which was fun, but also hectic. So, I couldn’t post 😦

But anyway, Midnights is finally out, after an excruciatingly long wait of 2 months, and I am happy with it! Like the first time I heard the entire album, I wasn’t like the biggest fan of it, but it’s slowly growing on me, and now every song I hear, it’s like, maybe this can be added to the list of favourites! But I also have a definitive list of favourites, and I’ll be sharing it right now with all of you!

1. Anti-Hero:

Okay, you knew this had to be first. I have not heard one negative review of this song, and I refuse to hear one now. It’s Taylor being super vulnerable and relatable at the same time. And it’s so ironical because the song is actually upbeat and the lyrics are so sad.

Irrelevant, but I felt like giving Taylor a big, warm hug after listening to the song.

I love the lyrics to Anti-Hero, because it’s something I feel that everyone feels at the some point of their lives. Here are my favourite lyrics from the song-

Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift

-Anti-Hero

It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I’ll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

-Anti-Hero

Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby
And I’m a monster on the hill

-Anti-Hero

2. Vigilante Shit

Okay, I love how reputation-y this song is. Like, rep is my favourite Taylor Swift album, and this song sounds so much like it’s from Taylor Swift’s rep era and I am all for it. The dark beat, the lyrics, everything is so good. But the thing that won me over is the line- Lately I’ve been dressing for revenge.

Also, the fact that the song’s probably about Scooter Braun just makes it 🤌🤌

3. Mastermind

Okay, I knew from the moment this track was announced that I would love it. And I did! It’s not exactly what I imagined, but it’s like just such a cute song, and I can imagine everything happening, and it’s so cute! I thought it would be like a dark song or something, but it’s just so wholesome and cute, and I love it. Plus, Taylor Swift is a mastermind, so it’s just fitting that she has a song called Mastermind.

Honorary mentions:

  1. Karma
  2. Lavender Haze
  3. Labyrinth
  4. The Great War

Okay, this was tough, because all the songs are ‘real nice’ (Iykyk). Go stream the album right now, if you haven’t already, and give all the tracks a listen- they are really amazing!!

Let me know in the comments your favourite song! Have you watched the Anti-Hero music video? How’d you like it?

  1. Loved your reviews!!! Midnight rain is my absolute favorite from the album 😩💜
Anti-hero is super catchy and vulnerable at the same time. I’m so lovin’ it. Bejeweled is also one of the best charming song ever made. I’m currently obsessed with Lavender’s haze 💜✨
