Lola and the Boy Next Door

Lola and the Boy Next Door

Lola and the Boy Next Door is a novel written by Stephanie Perkins. It is the sequel to the bestselling novel Anna and the French Kiss.

Lola Nolan is a teenage girl who loves to dress absurdly and is nearly always in some sort of a costume. She dating a guy five years older than her and her dads don’t really like him. But the real tragedy starts when Lola’s old friends Cricket and Calliope[ they are twins] move next door. They had been real good friends before Calliope started being mean to her and Cricket broke her heart. However, now that they have all grown up, certain things have changed. Calliope is still mean and indifferent to her, but Cricket…. Cricket has grown attractive and wants to become friends. Lola is not really sure where her loyalties lie anymore but she flows with her life.

There was a tenderness and warmth in this novel, especially when Cricket and Lola are together. That, of course, is the objective of a romance novel, but still it was different in this novel.

I would also like to mention that it is a great art to make people feel that they are the character of the novel. It is easier said than done and I must say that Stephanie Perkins does have that quality.

I must say that even though this novel is good, it is not half as good as Anna and the French Kiss. One usually expects a better sequel to a novel. I do hope that the conclusion of this trilogy Isla and the Happily Ever After is better than Lola and the Boy Next Door

So, if you like absurd [in a good way] novels, this one is for you.

P.S. Anna and Etienne St. Clair appear in this novel and are as adorable as they were❤❤❤😘😘😘
