Book Review | The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak

Wow, look at that- three weeks of no book reviewing, and then boom, in 24 hours I have another review up!

Hey everybody and welcome to another episode post on my blog! Today I will be reviewing The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak and it was initially a Wattpad novel. I sat down and finished it in one sitting (like literally right now)- I finished this book in two hours! That’s how good it was.

So, you probably remember that I had asked you for book recs yesterday and while a lot of them were helpful, I decided to sit down once and for all and find out a dozen books for myself. And I think I really did a good job as I think I got around 10-12 books tonight. Yay! And all of them are YA Contemporaries, so you have a bunch of YA recs coming your way!

Let’s get on with the review!

The Heartbreakers (The Heartbreak Chronicles Book 1) eBook: Novak, Ali: Amazon.in: Kindle Store

Synopsis:
“When I met Oliver Perry, I had no clue he was the lead singer for The Heartbreakers. And he had no idea that I was the only girl in the world who hated his music.”

Stella will do anything for her sick sister, Cara—even stand in line for an autographed Heartbreakers CD…for four hours. She’s totally winning best birthday gift this year. At least she met a cute boy with soft brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes while getting her caffeine fix. Too bad she’ll never see him again.

Except, Stella’s life has suddenly turned into a cheesy love song. Because Starbucks Boy is Oliver Perry – lead singer for the Heartbreakers. And even after she calls his music crap, Oliver still gives Stella his phone number. And whispers quotes from her favorite Disney movie in her ear. OMG, what is her life?

But how can Stella even think about being with Oliver — dating and laughing and pulling pranks with the band — when her sister could be dying of cancer?

Ohkay, I have this really goofy grin on my face because this is how much I loved this book.

Talking about the plot, I am really sure I have heard of this plot somewhere, but I can’t really remember where. But I still loved the idea and it was really sweet. Like that first meeting at Starbucks was so good and I loved the way how it carried on.
The drama was minimal and the laughter was maximum. And I love that about the book.

The characters were really remarkable. Talking about the main protagonist, Stella (the book is in her POV), she might come up to you as a little stuck up (like just a tad bit, not too much.), but as the tale unravels, you get more insight into her character and it seems a really sweet one.
Oliver was actually a heartbreaker, but I am proud to announce that I haven’t fallen for him. He acted in a really bad way, but it was all justified. And the thing he did at the end, oh my god, I am just…. speechless.
Talking about Cara and Drew, Stella’s siblings (they are triplets), they too were very well portrayed. They were actually how you expect them to be, you know? Like the character portrayal is on point.
The other band members, JJ, Alec (I fell for Alec.) and Xander are really nice in their own way. I didn’t like JJ too much, but he was okay.

So, yeah, if you are in the mood for a light, cutesy YA, go for this book! It is really amazing and I look forward to reading other books by Ali Novak. I have heard loads about My Life With The Walter Boys and I cannot wait to try it out. Though I am not sure when I will be reading that one, as aforesaid, I have many YAs on my list right now. This is one of those books which will make you happy, but you might not remember it forever.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hope you have added this to your TBR, especially if you love YA! Have you read any other books by Ali Novak? Let me know in the comments!

P.S.-1 Sorry if my posts have been longer than usual, I have been rambling too much these days. And not just you guys, to everyone!

P.S.-2 I don’t know why but this band reminded me of One Direction and Why Don’t We. Well, more Why Don’t We. I don’t know why, but well🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
