Synopsis:

A sweet and swoony contemporary Young Adult novel about a cross-country family road trip that puts one girl and her childhood best friend on an unexpected road to romance!

Norah hasn’t seen her childhood best friend, Skyler, in years. When he first moved away, they’d talk all the time, but lately their relationship has been reduced to liking each other’s Instagram posts. That’s why Norah can’t wait for the joint RV road trip their families have planned for the summer.

But when Skyler finally arrives, he seems…like he’d rather be anywhere else. Hurt and confused, Norah reacts in kind. Suddenly, her oldest friendship is on the rocks.

An unexpected summer spent driving across the country leads both Norah and Skyler down new roads and to new discoveries. Before long, they are, once again, seeing each other in a different light. Can their friendship-turned-rivalry turn into something more?

Review:

Kasie West never fails to disappoint!

Ah, I am so thankful that I got an ARC from Netgalley via TBR and Beyond Tours for this novel, because I am pretty sure I’d have put off reading this, claiming I had other books to read!

The story starts off by Norah getting ready to leave for an RV trip, and the entire book we see Skyler and Norah ‘navigating’ through their friendship (Get it? Cause like on the road trip they’d have to navigate too? No? *Mumbles* okay)

Moving on, let’s get into a deep dive of the book!

Plot:
I honestly do not know why I have not read more road trip books. I enjoy them, but somehow I simply don’t actively pick them up!
Similarly, this book set on a road trip is awesome too! I feel like it definitely did have more depth than normal Kasie West novels, and I loved that about it.

Characters:
Kasie West’s writing and her characters are the best thing in most of her books! And I loved the characters in this one, especially Willow! I loved the entire family dynamics as well! But honestly speaking- I saw zero sparks between Norah and Skyler. Maybe it’s just me, but I dunno

Writing Style:
This seemed just a little mellowed out too, but was fun to read all the same!

Recommend it 100% for all lovers of YA and road trips!

Favourite Quotes:

  1. Love is a pretty powerful thing. It doesn’t take away all of life’s disappointments, but it can provide a nice place to fall.
  2. “I want to belong, feel like I fit in somewhere. Doesn’t everyone?”
  3. “I won’t let you fall.”

Have you read this book? Do you intend to? Let me know in the comments!

P.S.- Anyone going on a road trip with me? Please?
