I don’t know what to say.

Hey everyone! Guess what? I finished Cress in two days, despite having lots of work to do (And I completed that work) and having three tests next week to study for (And I studied for them too! Oh, I am finally being productive!)
Coming back to Cress, I am not feeling anything strongly you know? I mean I can’t wait to read Winter, but I have got classes today and will probably not be able to read it at night either, because I am going to be doing family stuff.

But…. moving on, let’s read the synopsis of Cress!

Synopsis:
In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Plot:

I have got to say that this book had my least favourite plot of all three. I mean, I know important things happened in this book, but it gave me the feeling of being a filler book in between two main books. Like I cannot wait to read Winter, because Cress gave me the feeling that a lot of important stuff is going to happen in Winter. And not just because it’s like the finale of the series, but because of Cress.
I don’t know, the plot just didn’t click with me as the other did.

Characters:

We were introduced to one main new character- Cress. I don’t have any strong feelings for Cress. I mean, she was just too kiddish for me. And the fact that she fell in love with Thorne, before even meeting him? It was too unreal. I mean that was a major turn-off for me.
But Thorne, oh Thorne! He just won my heart.
And the thing with Scarlet and Wolf! Oh, I cannot say anything cos spoilers!
To sum it up, I love the whole character thing, except that I didn’t like Cress (The character) so much, as I thought I would.

Writing Style:

People always go- plot-driven or character-driven? But in this book, it was neither for me! I mean sure, I was intrigued, but the writing style was the biggest incentive for me! I have fallen in love with Marissa Meyer’s writing style, and I know now, what the hype is all about!

My Rating:⭐⭐⭐.5

Even though Cress and Scarlet didn’t live up to my expectations, I am super excited for Winter!!

What were your thoughts on Cress? Have you read the Lunar Chronicles? Let me know in the comments!

P.S.- There’s this really good song called War Paint by Jonah Marais, please do listen to it, cause it’s really good! It has that vintage feel, yet feels modern. Aah, you will know it once you listen to it! Click here to listen to it

    1. Oh, yeah she’s sweet, there were just certain times when she annoyed me, but it wasn’t like her fault either, because she practically had zero human interaction in her life, so…. she was the way she was…
Ohh, I hope you enjoy the reread!

  1. Don’t read my comment if you have not read cress but did you know that in the actual rapunzel story the prince looses his sight? I liked how MM put that in the story. And poor cress, she was stuck in the satilite most of her life. Don’t be that hard on her because she fell in love with a guy she never met (actually be very hard on her) (JK) . I mean, she had never met anyone really.
