Blurb (from Goodreads):
After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her … but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead … quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Wow. I just….wow.

I loved this book. It was just so perfect. It has romance, mystery and dystopia, fantasy- four of my favourite genres- in just the right amount! I honestly enjoyed reading this book so much!

My favourite characters were Celaena, Dorian, Chaol and Nehemia. I also loved Fleetfoot. There are various reasons why I loved all these characters and if I begin to list them down, it would take ages…. Okay, I will give one reason each, I can’t resist.

I loved Celaena because beneath all that rough exterior, she was a kind soul. She was sensible and strong.
I loved Dorian because he was so cute! He was kind and charming as well! And he loved dogs.
Chaol… I don’t know why I loved him, I just did.
Nehemia is a character who is equivalent to Annabeth Chase for me now. That is how much I love respect her.

Another great thing about the book was that you would love all characters you should and hate all those you should. Excessively.

The book did become boring in the middle once for just a few pages. Otherwise, it was a real page turner.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves YA Romance, dystopia, a bit of mystery and fantasy. I personally cannot wait to finish the second book! (Yes, I have already started it)

My Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐

Have you read the book? Do you like it or not?? Let me know in the comments!!

P.S.- Thank you for all the book recommendations!! I look forward to reading those books ASAP!! Throne of Glass was Ahaana’s @Windows to Worlds recommendation (not forgetting Goodreads and countless other WordPress blogs) and since it has been on my TBR since like forever I gave it a go! And as you know I loved it!

  1. Ayyy!! My goodness, the number of people that have been urging me to read something by Sarah J Mass is huge. I’m so glad Throne of Glass worked well for you! I do love books with loveable and hateable characters. 😆 But I think I’ll start with A Court of Thorns of Roses first because I’m lazy for such a long series despite how epic it sounds! 🤪😉

    1. I would have started with a Court of Thorns and Roses as well, but the entire series isn’t out yet. That’s why I started with Throne of Glass! And yes, do read something by Sarah J. Maas! It is a must!

  2. Oh, wow, just wait until you finish the next story! Things get so much bigger and messier for all the characters – it’s so much fun. Nehemia is one of my favorite characters, although my other favorites come later in the series. I can’t wait for you to meet them 🙂
