I have a new idea for an interactive activity!

Hey everyone! Welcome or welcome back to Whispering Stories!

As I mentioned in the monthly wrap-up of August, here’s the ✨unique✨ post idea I was talking about!

Since all of you enjoy contributing to the ‘Reacting to’ posts so much, I came up with another idea wherein all of you can contribute to stuff, and this time that is….. *drumroll* UNPOPULAR BOOKISH OPINIONS!

What you have to do is comment unpopular bookish opinions you have.

In a separate post(s), I will be reacting to them, and well, yeah, that’s it.

For example, my unpopular bookish opinions are:
1. I feel like The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is overrated.
2. I don’t find love triangles irritating.

Also. try mentioning pet peeves (something that annoys you, but not others or vice versa), tropes and stuff other than particular book names, since I might not have read them. You can still, of course, mention books but I just won’t be reacting if I haven’t read that book. And I am sure a lot of you probably know what books I have read, so well.

So, what are you waiting for? Fire away, people!

P.S.- People, if you find that someone doesn’t like something you like/love, when you read the comments, please do not spread hate. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and you do not have the right to judge them. Thank you.

  1. Oooh, this is great! 🤗 I have loads of unpopular opinions, so here you go! 😁

    1. The Shatter Me, A Song of Ice and Fire, and Throne of Glass series are extremely overrated.
    2. Deckled edges are super pretty.
    3. The Harry Potter movies are a bad adaptation. Especially after Goblet of Fire, they cut so much that the movies barely make sense if you haven’t read the books.
    4. I actually like the trope where love interests are separated for a longer period of time. It gives both people the chance to grow as characters and the reunions are always the best thing ever! 🥰
    5. A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is an amazing prequel to The Hunger Games. I know you haven’t read this one yet, but please don’t listen to all the haters (a.k.a. everyone except me, apparently) and at least give it a chance!

      1. Oh, you have? I must have forgotten because you never mention it. Which probably means you’re one of those millions of people who didn’t like it much 🙈😥 But I’ll wait for your post to see your reaction!

  2. I don’t like harry potter.
The hunger games 1 and 2 books are great. The 3rd is not so good.
Romance is not great in books.
The movies are never as good as the books.
I hope this helps. Sorry if I did this wrong😅

  3. this is such a fun idea!! here are some of my unpopular opinions:

    – love triangles are great when well-written.
    – illuminae has a cool visual format, other than that it’s completely boring.
    – hermione and harry should have ended up together because they 100% had the most chemistry!

  4. – love triangles are awesome. (so many people say that i’m afraid it’s popular now, haha)
    – enemies to lovers who scream “because i love you!” >>>> enemies to lovers
    – “i’m not like other girls” isn’t a bad trope when written well
    – contemporary romances >>> fantasy romances

  5. That’s a good ideaaaaaaaa

    – Heroes of Olympus is better than Percy Jackson
    – The Trials of Apollo IS good
    – Dog-earing pages isn’t terrible

    Yeah I can’t think of more. 🧐

  6. Great idea, Riddhi! I want to steal it!!

-I like romance as a subplot.
-I don’t like books with detailed descriptions of scenery and the world building. I also don’t like, that in contemporary stories, authors usually go way on the descriptive side of boring, very random convos between characters I couldn’t care less about, like the mc gets a phone call from her brother and they talk about the randomest things.
-I don’t like metaphorical and imagery kinda writing style in books.
-I have nothing against classics but it’s very rare for me to be able to fisnish them, they just feel so old and have such a descriptive style of writing.
-Roasters to lovers is better than enemies/friends to lovers (by roasters i mean the two keep insulting each other and fighting and they may or may not be friends).
    -Standalones are better than series.
-The ending of allegiant was great.

    1. I actually agree with you on the ending of Allegiant! I thought it was very fitting – I just didn’t like Allegiant itself much 😅 I thought the whole explanation of how the Factions came to be and stuff was beyond stupid. It felt like a completely different world than the one Divergent started in. But the ending? It fit very well with Triss’s character arc! 😊

  7. ~ A Court of Thorns and Roses (series) sucks! The book is a mix of worst possible tropes. Nesta is my fav character.
~ I don’t get the hype for To Kill a Kingdom. I disliked it :/
~ In Maze Runner, I am not obsessed with Newt. I liked Teresa better.
~ Glass Sword was so boring it put me in a reading slump
~ Clary and Jace are annoying. The hype for the Mortal Instruments and infernal devices is bigger than Jace’s ego🔪 Mortal Instruments was not THAT great
~ The first two Harry Potter movies were cliche and felt like their acting was not up to the point…and I also didn’t cry over…Sirius
~ To all the boys I’ve loved before sucks!
    Percy Jackson > Harry Potter

Ahhhh that’s all I can think of for now! Can I put some more soon? (if I ever remember)

  8. Here they are
    -Harry Potter is overrated
    -Leo Valdez>Percy Jackson
-Classics soon become boring because the way of writing doesn’t connect with me
-The Midnight Library is actually awesome and not boring
